Logitech is touting an advancement in comfort and usability design with its ergonomic, cross-platform Cordless Wave keyboard. There might be some marketing hyperbole to this claim, but after a week of typing with the Wav… More >>

I thought I’m making the right choice here by choosing Logitech because all of my friends who uses Logitech brand have had a good experience… Well, I use logitech webcam and very happy too with the camera. But this keyboard is my first logitech keyboard, because I usually use Microsoft keyboards and mice, and has been pretty happy with it. Here’s the bottom line based on my own review after a few days using it:
1. The keyboard’s keys are too small. I’m Asian and has lean fingers, but if I consider the keys to be pretty small, imagine if a caucasian people using it.
2. This is not really an ergonomic keyboard, I know that!, because it doesn’t have a split keys… but this keyboard makes my fingers cramp after a few minutes using it. Before I change to this, I used similar wavy keyboard from microsoft which is only $15 compare to this, but it doesn’t give me that cramp.
3. Software for this keyboard n mouse is terrible. Doesn’t do anything. I download the latest driver/software from logitech site and it’s almost 50MB in size. Yet after installing it, it doesn’t have any selection/features in which we can control the keyboard n mouse more effectively.
Update: I was wrong for my no. 3, the software actually works fine n great. What I did wrong was, I’m using a KVM switch and plug the receiver through the KVM’s USB.. not directly to the computer’s USB. After pluging in directly to my computer, the application do come out more selection to control the keyboard n mouse. And then when I read on Logitech website FAQ, it does say that it will not work properly when pluging it through a switch or USB hub, etc.
4. The mouse is ok. It is a normal mouse with back n forward button as an additional function, which can be very useful for browsing. No complain for the mouse part.
Hope this helps! Don’t be fool. Try it at your local store before buying it online. Kudos to Microsoft for making better ergonomic keyboard. Somehow I could not update the star that I give for this keyboard, since the software works… I’ll increase the star for this desktop set to 2.5

setup is a breeze and the heel plam rest is a great angle for me. it is a little deep as in chunky, but hey. a ton of features.

As of writing this, Logitech Control Center 2.2.2 (the lastest for this keyboard mouse combo) DOES NOT actually give you the ability to re map keys. Therefore, you are stuck with a keyboard of basic functionality. Most of the fancy keys DO NOT WORK on a Mac. I would seriously hold off or find a better product in the the mean time as this is in no way acceptable as a fully functional keyboard. The mouse also has issues… The left and right scroll messes with my screens brightness (but only turns it all the way down!) and the side buttons do weird things as well.
I have posted in the logitech forums and searched all over the place but have not found anything to fix these issues.
EDIT:
Since my review, the software has been getting better, though I also switched primarily to a Linux environment and this keyboard is all sorts of weird in that causing my system to crash at times, keys killing my XSever and whatnot. Either way, I would never buy again.

I tried this set as an alternative to Logitech Cordless Desktop Comfort Laser mouse and keyboard combo. After using a split comfort keyboard for a few years, I could not type well on the Wave one. I also found that the tilted mouse that comes with the slightly more expensive Comfort set has better shape and feel.
The Wave keyboard comes with numerous assignable function keys. Most of them work and make using Windows Vista a bit more convenient. As of this review, however, the three user-assigned function keys labeled “1,” “2,”, and “3″ did not have supporting driver function to configure them, so the keys cannot be used.

I bought this thinking it was ergonomic, but it’s not. At this point, Logitech does not seem to be making a true ergonomic wireless keyboard and mouse set that can be used with a Mac. I’ve used Logitech products in the past and like them, but at this point I’m not able to use a Logitech product.
