Why would I buy this when the 8gb nano is the same price?

$150, definitely yes. $200, maybe. $250, no thanks.

  2. I knew the sync software wouldn’t work on a mac, but i had expected to be able to drag-n-drop my music and video onto it in data mode. But this won’t show up at all, not even as a drive or storage device.

Probably works great, but if you have a mac, it doesn’t work at all so i had to return it.

I got this it between IPOD’s when I was going from Nano to a new IPOD classic. It was alright but it’s just a cheap copy of an ipod with less features, performance and space. Not only that the click wheel is complete crap for those of you that are used to the awesomeness and accuracy of the IPOD wheel. This thing also crashed alot with only half the drive full of music and 1 music video on it. I would not buy one of these again it’s IPOD all the way from now on.

I was given a gift certificate from my wife to buy an MP3 player for both of us. I wanted to transfer all of our cd’s to it so I needed a nice chunk of GB and didn’t need the video capabilities. I decided I was not going to get roped into the IPod and was going to find a savings. Best Buy had a nice deal for the SanDisk with 8GB. I decided that I’d ignore the fact that EVERYTHING by way of accessories was geared toward IPods and save a couple bucks by buying the SanDisk. Bad move.

From the beginning I found it hard to use. The buttons were slivers on the sides and difficult to push with my man hands. The downloading was inconsistent. Often I would spend 10 minutes typing up the cd’s information and half of it would not show up on the MP3 player. Sometimes the disk would say it had been “written” and I could not find it. I had to download Jane’s Addiction three times!

Next, it froze. No idea what happened. There is no real “off” button, there is only a “menu” button and that did not turn it off. I gave it a couple hours to cool down or whatever and nothing worked. That was it! I was very pleased with Best Buy for taking it back. I will now read up (should have done that in the first place) on Amazon and buy from here.

I believe I will just have to be smart and go with the proven: IPod. I have read and heard great things. I’ll probably just end up with the 30GB as it is comparable in price to 8GB.
