Seventh Generation Disinfecting Multi-Surface Wipes, Lemongrass 70-count Tubs

I was very excited when I saw a “green” product come out that would clean and disinfect my counters, tables, etc. just like my Clorox wipes, which I love. I am giving them only 2 stars because the smell is awful. I don’t mean just bad, but awful. They call the scent “lemongrass & thyme”. There is not a hint of lemon in this scent. It smells like a real bad generic toilet bowl cleaner. And the worst part is that I washed my hands twice AND put on lotion and I can still smell it on my skin. My husband especially does not like loosing money, but he said to throw the whole case out because the smell was making him sick too. I don’t understand why they could not make the smell pleasant – citrus is all natural – give me an orange or lemon scent! I have had good luck with other Seventh Generation products for my babies, so I am highly disappointed that I am out $35 for these wipes.

I don’t like using rags and sponges on my kitchen counters, because studies show that they spread bacteria. I use spray and paper towels most of the time, but I would prefer to use wipes. However, I don’t like the chemicals in most commercially available wipes or the fake chemical scents. So I was very happy to find these wipes available at Target for almost the same price as the Clorox & Lysol wipes! And I love the smell, a fresh herbal smell that I prefer infinitely over fake lemon. As for how these wipes work, they are great! I can use one wipe to do my whole counter, so I think they’ll last for a long time.

I’ve been using these for a couple of weeks to do a daily “swipe” of the bathroom sink/counter and toilet seat. Overall, I’m quite satisfied. I bought it somewhat on impulse when I found it for a really good price. I’m pleased with how moist the wipe stays — moist enough that I can use one wipe for the whole bathroom (starting with the sink/counters and finishing with the toilet, and folding it over as I go). Of course, this only really works if you’re doing it on a daily basis so that you’re really just maintaining the area; if you weren’t doing it daily (or near daily), you might need to use more than one wipe.
The smell is rather strong. It’s somewhat of an antiseptic/medicinal smell and it does linger for a bit. At first I didn’t care for it, but after a week or so, it actually kind of grew on me.
At this pace, it will take me about 10 weeks to go through one container; I cannot comment yet on how well the wipes will perform when I’m getting toward the end of the package.
